Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Why is Degree® doing this?

Unilever – the leading manufacturer of deodorant and antiperspirants and maker of Degree® Men, Degree® Women, Degree® Girl, Dove® and Suave® – and USA Hockey have teamed up to help kids build confidence as well as encourage more kids to join a team and participate in youth hockey. Joining a hockey team does require families to commit not only their time, but also their finances. To help ease the financial stress and give hockey players a vote of confidence, Degree is providing more than 90,000 free jerseys to teams nationwide.

2. Why is this program limited to teams in the 7-12 age range?

The Unilever Tween Confidence Index, commissioned by Unilever’s partnering deodorant and antiperspirant brands, uncovered a key insight: tween confidence (in girls and boys aged 8-12) is short-lived. That’s why Unilever is aligning with a roster of community partners (like USA Hockey), assembling a panel of experts and developing an educational website, http://www.DontFretTheSweat.com, to provide parents with tools and kids with opportunities to build confidence and be inspired in everything they do.

3. How do I know if my association qualifies to be a part of this program?

All registered USA Hockey 12U programs are eligible to participate in this program. Phase 1 will begin April 3, 2012, Noon ET, and will include a predetermined number of free jerseys to be offered to 12 U associations who were not able to obtain jerseys in prior years. Phase 2 will begin on April 5, 2012, Noon ET, and will include the remainder of the free jerseys to be available to all eligible 12 U associations, including those who did receive jerseys last year. You will need your USA Hockey association code to place an order. Only one entrant per association will be allowed to sign-in and place orders in the free giveaway program. Please coordinate accordingly.

4. Where can I find my association code?

Your association’s registrar will have access to your valid USA Hockey association code, or you can find it on your official team roster. Only one entrant per association will be allowed to sign-in and place orders in the free giveaway program. Please coordinate accordingly.

5. How many free sets can I order? Am I limited to just one set?

One set of jerseys will outfit 17 players. Associations may order enough free sets to cover each of their players on USA Hockey registered 12U teams. In addition, your Association total number of eligible jerseys and sets will be communicated within the ordering process.

6. How will the jerseys be packaged?

The free jerseys will be packaged in sets of 17 by age/color/version (Youth or Girls). Each package will also include samples of Degree® antiperspirant/deodorant for coaches to distribute to their teams

7. What comes in each set of jerseys?

The jerseys are packaged in one-color sets of 17.

The sets include a pre-set mixture of sizes for each age group.

  • 7/8: 9 Youth Medium, 7 Youth Large, 1 Adult Small
  • 9/10: 13 Adult Small, 3 Adult Medium, 1 Adult Large
  • 11/12: 5 Adult Medium, 10 Adult Large, 2 Adult XLarge

The jersey sets are available in six colors (red, white, black, gold, royal blue, and navy).

All jerseys include the USA Hockey logo and Degree® or Degree® Girl logo (depending on which jersey set(s) you order – Youth or Girls), and will allow space for teams to add their own numbers and team logos (at the local team’s expense).

Additionally, each package of free jerseys will also include samples of Degree® antiperspirant/deodorant for coaches to distribute to their teams along with a free offer for a Total Hockey Breakaway Rewards loyalty card for each child.

8. Do the jersey sets contain goalie jerseys?

The jersey sets contain a pre-set mixture of standard cut sizes. The sets of jerseys all contain a large-sized jersey that is intended for the goalie to wear.

  • 9/10: 13 Adult Small, 3 Adult Medium, 1 Adult Large
  • 11/12: 5 Adult Medium, 10 Adult Large, 2 Adult XLarge

9. The pre-set sizes for my team seem to be too large/small, what should I do?

Please order the set of jerseys that has the sizes best suited for your particular players.

10. Can the jerseys be used for game jerseys for recreational/house leagues?

The jerseys are K1 mid-weight practice jerseys and are of a high enough quality jersey that they can be used as game jerseys for recreational/house league teams.

All jerseys include the USA Hockey logo and Degree® or Degree® Girl logo (depending on which jersey set(s) you order – Youth or Girls), and will allow space for teams to add their own numbers and team logos (at the local team’s expense).

11. We have teams that have both boys and girls on them, what jerseys should we order?

For associations that have both girls and boys on the same team, you may order a set of Youth jerseys (for the boys on the team) and a set of Girls jerseys (for the girls on your team) if your allotted count of free jersey sets allows you to during the ordering process. You may also provide the girls with the Youth jersey version as well.
